Traffic Accident on Rt. 140 Sends One to Shock Trauma

The accident took place at Rt. 140 and Leidy Road.

A man was transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center shortly after 8 a.m. following a traffic accident on southbound Rt. 140 near Leidy Road. 

Philip Aughinbaugh, 41, of Westminster was slowing down due to traffic congestion when Wilmer Sagastume, 21, of Finksburg tried to swerve to avoid hitting Aughinbaugh's Ford F250. Sagastume's Chevrolet Express Van hit the rear passenger side of Aughinbaugh's vehicle. A third car, a Chevrolet Aveo driven by William Null Sr. 55, of Gettysburg, hit the driver's side of Sagastume's van, according to a Maryland State news release.

Sagastume was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and according to the news release, Aughinbaugh and Null, Sr. were not seriously injured.
