Train Crash in Westminster Leads to Road Closures

A train rammed into a tractor trailer this morning while the vehicle was traveling east on Hahn Road. No injuries have been reported.

 

The back of a tractor-trailer was smashed after being hit by a train this morning in Westminster, authorities said.

While the crash has snarled traffic in the area, no injuries have been reported. The identity of the driver has not yet been released.

"We are in the process of investigating the incident," said Carroll County Sheriff's Department head Major Phil Kasten."In the next hour or two, we  should be releasing more details."

According to the Carroll County Sheriff's Department press release, the accident occurred prior to 11 a.m. Deputies responded to the scene on Hahn Road after receiving several 911 calls.

Witnesses reported the tractor-trailer was traveling east along Hahn Road when it crossed the tracks into the path of an oncoming train that was traveling north. 

According to the release, the train collided with the rear of the trailer before stopping.  

Hahn Road will remain closed for several hours between Route 27 and Woodward Road. 

As of 3 p.m. Monday, the roads were still closed.
