Westminster Man Charged in Shooting of Brother

The victim is in stable condition at Shock Trauma.

A Westminster man was charged with multiple counts in the shooting of his brother in the stomach Thursday, police said. 

On Dec. 12 at approximately 11:34 a.m., Carroll County Sheriff's Deputies responded to reports of a shooting in the 600 block of Sullivan Rd. in Westminster.  

Carroll County Sheriff's Deputies and MSP Troopers arrived on the scene and found 33-year-old Michael Valianti who had been shot in the abdomen, according to police reports.  

The victim's brother, 38-year-old Reno Louis Valianti, was also found at the residence and taken into custody as a suspect in the shooting, police said.  

The victim was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where he underwent emergency surgery and is currently out of surgery and listed in stable condition, according to police.  

The suspect was taken to Carroll County Central Booking, police said.  

Reno Valianti was charged on multiple counts including first and second degree assault, attempted first and second degree murder, use of a handgun in the commission of a felony and reckless endangerment, according to CaseSearch
