Westminster Man Charged with Vehicle Arson

A Westminster man was charged with setting fire to a vehicle on May 8.

Erik Anthony of the 2400 block of West Liberty Road in Westminster, has been charged with second-degree arson, first-degree malicious burning and malicious destruction of property, according to a Maryland State Fire Marshal press release.

The release reports that at 2:30 a.m. on May 8, Anthony damaged a 2003 Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck in the 2700 block of Mystic Woods Court in Mount Airy. Anthony kicked the truck and then started a fire at the vehicle's gas fill spout, according to the release.

The fire burned itself out and damages are estimated at about $1,000, with little damage to the vehicle, according to the news release.

Anthony was taken to Central Booking at the Carroll County Sheriff's Department and was later released on $10,000 bail according to an article in the Carroll County Times.
