Westminster Police Investigate Friday Morning Assault, Robbery on West Main Street

The victim said he was assaulted outside of Ernie's Bar.

Westminster police are investigating a reported assault and robbery that took place Friday, Aug. 5 at 1 a.m. in front of Ernie's Bar, 90 West Main St., according to a statement.

According to the statement, the victim reported he was standing on the sidewalk in front of the business waiting for a ride when he was approached by a male who asked for a cigarette. As he was getting a cigarette, the victim was approached from behind by another male, who punched him and knocked him to the ground. While on the ground, the victim was punched and hit by the two suspects, who took his cell phone and money before fleeing the area on foot in an unknown direction. 

The victim sustained minor injuries during the assault. The suspects are both described as black males, 30 to 40 years of age, 5-feet-7 inches tall, 175 pounds, one wearing a white T-shirt and one wearing a red T-shirt. One of the suspects was referred to by the nickname “Moon” during the assault, according to the statement.

A $200 cash reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for this crime.
