Be a Part of Westminster's Miracle on Main Street Holiday Event

On Nov. 26, Main Street in Westminster will transform into a holiday wonderland.

Westminster doesn't mess around when it comes to kicking off the holidays. On Nov. 26, city officials, business owners and residents will kick off the holiday season with an electric parade, a Christmas tree lighting, Santa sightings and a host of other festivities.

3rd Annual Holiday Electric Parade

Sponsored by the City of Westminster and the Downtown Westminster Main Street Program, the parade will begin at 5 p.m. The Holiday Electric Parade, which is Maryland’s largest on-street holiday electric light parade, follows Westminster’s traditional parade route of Pennsylvania Avenue and Main Street to Longwell Avenue.

Immediately following the parade, Mayor Kevin R. Utz, Santa and other City Officials, will light the holiday tree and sing carols to the music of the Westminster Municipal Band.

“It’s always a wonderful feeling to see the twinkle in the kids’ eyes, as they watch the parade and the lighting of the holiday tree in awe,” Mayor Utz said in a news release.

Santa’s Treat for Kids

After the tree is lit, Santa and the kids will head up to the Westminster Family Fitness Center, 11 Longwell Avenue. This children’s event, which runs from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. is free and will feature games, crafts, activities, prizes and an opportunity to chat with Santa Claus.

Entertainment: “Hans Brinker & the Silver Skates”

If you come to the downtown area early, the Carroll Arts Center, 91 West Main Street, kicks off their holiday programs with the musical “Hans Brinker & the Silver Skates” at 3 p.m., as a prelude to the “Miracle on Main Street” Holiday Event activities.

Tickets for the musical are $9 for adults and $6 for Arts Council members, students 18 years & under and seniors 60 years and over. For more information or to reserve tickets in advance, call (410) 848-7272.
