Carroll County Pauses to Remember 9/11 (Photo Gallery)

There were several 9/11 remembrance events in Carroll County on the tenth anniversary.

Like the rest of the country, Carroll County held commemorative events Sunday, Sept. 11 to honor those who lost their lives on 9/11.

One event was held at the county office building and another on the campus of McDaniel College.

The Carroll County Volunteer Emergency Services Association and the county commissioners held the event at the county office building on Center Street.

The Carroll County Sheriff’s Department, Westminster Police Department, Maryland State Police and the 14 volunteer fire departments participated in the event.

The remembrance ceremony at McDaniel College featured reflections from students in the middle of campus on Memorial Plaza, also known as Red Square.

McDaniel's Old Main bell was rung at times during the event. President Roger Casey and provost Tom Falkner were among the speakers at the event.

Seeing the American flag suspended between two hook and ladders always gives me cold chills. The bagpipes, as always, brought me to tears.
