Carroll Democratic Party Election Headquarters to Open Aug. 4

Local Democrats kick off election season with a grand opening celebration on President Obama's birthday.

The Carroll County Democratic Central Committee will open its local party election headquarters with a celebration on Saturday, Aug. 4, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

There will be light refreshments and entertainment, according to a news release, and several local political leaders will be in attendance.

The headquarters is located at 13 Liberty Street in Westminster (across from O'Lordan's Irish Pub). Admission to the event is a donation of a non-perishable food item for an Election Day Food Drive to benefit .

According to the news release, the opening coincides with President Obama's birthday.

Persons interested in volunteering at the headquarters should contact Mary Ellis at maryellis1945@gmail.com.

Nice headquarters! It's great to see so many Carroll County Democrats become active. Moderate Republicans and Independents are sure to join them in this election cycle, because bigotry has no place in American politics. Because Americans shouldn't allow 11 old white men and a candidate who refuses to come clean and won't let the sun shine on his off shore holdings and ten years of returns to run our country.

How about one half-colored man that is the most secretive president in history? How does he fit into your equation?

Half-colored? I thought that kind of talk went out of style a long time ago. A shame that it hasn't.

As long as the NAAcP uses it, it's still in style.
