Commissioner Shoemaker Creates District 2 Business Council

The new Business Council will have their first meeting Dec. 5.

Carroll County Commissioner Haven Shoemaker, District 2, has announced the creation of the District 2 Business Council.

According to a news release, the Council will be comprised of an independent group of private business owners who live and/or work in District 2 (Hampstead and Finksburg areas) in Carroll County. The Council will meet monthly to discuss opportunities within and concerns about the local economy and business climate in District 2, and to provide feedback and advice to Shoemaker.

The commissioner said he created the Council to strengthen the existing commercial and industrial sectors in Carroll County and to solicit detailed recommendations on how to help them grow.

“The foundation of a healthy community is a strong and vibrant economy,” Shoemaker said in a release. “In order to maintain the prosperity of Carroll County, local government needs to create an atmosphere where businesses can succeed, and the best way to do that is to ask them what needs to be done.”

The first meeting will be held Monday Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. in the County Government Building on Center Street. Those wishing to join the Council are asked to contact Clayton M. Fischer at 410-596- 5246 or cmfischer@ccg.carr.org.
