Commissioners Encourage Citizens to 'Say No' to In-State Tuition for Illegal Immigrants

Carroll County Commissioners issued a news release encouraging citizens to help send the legislation to referendum by signing a petition.

The Carroll County board of commissioners has released a statement asking citizens to vote down legislation that would provide in‐state tuition discounts for illegal immigrants.

According to a news release, the board is opposed to the legislation because it would allegedly increase the cost of education for law abiding families while rewarding illegal behavior, such as undocumented immigration.

With a minimum of 35,000 votes needed for the legislation to go to referendum, the board issued the release in hopes of encouraging citizens to sign a petition, which must be submitted by May 31.
