Joshua Stonko Announces Candidacy for the Maryland House of Delegates

Running as a Republican, Stonko grew up in Carroll County.

Joshua Stonko officially announces his candidacy for the Maryland House of Delegates in District 5.

Joshua’s father is a police officer and his mother is a local small business owner. A Manchester resident, Stonko graduated from the Carroll County Public School System before attending the University of Maryland, College Park to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Economics. Stonko has worked on the staffs of Senator Joseph Getty and Congressman Roscoe Bartlett.

Stonko has helped to reestablish the Carroll County Young Republicans and has served as the President of the organization, according to a news release. He has also served as the Vice President of the Maryland College Republicans and campaigned nationally for Mitt Romney in the 2012 election.

Stonko said he is focused on finding innovative solutions to problems in education, to fighting for lower taxes, protecting second amendment rights, promoting strong family values, and encouraging civic activism throughout Carroll County and the state of Maryland.    

Delgates Justin Ready and Nancy Stocksdale currently represent District 5.
