Carroll Community College Students Receive National Recognition

Two students receive accolades for excellence in academics.

President Dr. Faye Pappalardo is proud to announce that graduating students Luke Fisher and Eileen Rudnick have been selected for national awards.

Fisher was selected as a member of the 2012 All-USA Community College Academic Team. Only 20 students from more than 1,700 nominations around the country were selected for this prestigious honor. The All-USA Community College Academic Team is presented by USA Today and Phi Theta Kappa national honor society. The award is a $2,500 scholarship and special medallion.

Rudnick was selected as a 2012 Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team Bronze Scholar. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation sponsors the Coca-Cola Community College Academic Team program by recognizing gold, silver and bronze scholars. Bronze scholars each receive a $1,000 scholarship and a special medallion. Phi Theta Kappa honor society administers the Coca-Cola College Academic Team program.

Both students are also members of the local, Maryland All-State Academic Team for Community, Technical and Junior College students.

“I am pleased that two of our students were recognized both locally and nationally for their outstanding scholastic achievement and student leadership,” said Pappalardo.
