Carroll County Public Schools Release New Bell Schedules for 2012-13

The start and end times (and bus schedules) will be adjusted for some public schools starting next year.

For some parents of Carroll County school students, there will be no changes in bus times next year, but for others, there will be some major adjustments to morning and afternoon routines.

During the preparation of the FY12 budget, School Superintendent Steve Guthrie directed staff to review all department functions and explore any areas where monies might be saved.

The Transportation Services Department re-examined the bus routing system for regular education buses and alignment of school start and end times. The results of the study indicated that at least $1.2 million could be cut by adjusting school start and end times. The savings are a direct result of the ability to eliminate up to 40 buses from the roads by maximizing the use of remaining buses.

The proposed change to the bell schedule for schools was first brought to the Board of Education for discussion last March, and discussion continued at every meeting for the next four months, as previously reported on Patch.

This adjusted schedule will take effect next fall, with the school year starting in 2012. Visit the Carroll County Public Schools website for more information.
