The Carroll County Public Schools Partners for Success Center will sponsor a workshop for parents and school staff on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Carroll Springs School in Westminster.

This “basics” workshop gives participants an overview of the special education process and acquaints them with the terminology and procedures involved in special education. Topics will include the definition of special education terms, federal and state laws, the special education cycle, eligibility, advocacy (parent involvement in the IEP process), Individualized Education Plans, and resources.

Light refreshments will be served. To register, please call Cindy Senseney at the Partners for Success Resource Center at 410-751-3955 by Tuesday, Nov. 7.

Veterans Day Celebration at Westminster High School

Westminster High School will celebrate Veterans Day on Thursday, Nov. 10. Several of the school’s former students who are also World War II veterans will join in a round table discussion.  A few students will participate in the discussion asking questions and also filming this for the school archives and hopefully for the oral history project at the Community Media Center.  This will take place in the media center from 9 am. until 11:10 a.m.
