Owl coach Brad Wilson already knows his team as he enters his eighth year. There are 18 seniors on the roster for the Owls, who were 6-4 overall and 6-1 in the county last year.

The Owls will be big on the offensive line as they average 280 pounds. Lining-up behind the offensive line is senior quarterback Jerome Cheese. Cheese was a starter last year, but as a receiver.

The Owls like to run a spread offense and the receivers Garrett Bean, Dan Johnson, Chad Diehl and Darius Clifton are all seniors.

The defense returns seven starters from last year. Anchoring the defensive line is Abu Fofanah and Dylan Hickson. The linebackers are Diehl, Johnson, Dan Bartley and Nick Venderwoude. Senior C. J. Nichols returns to safety where he picked off three passes last year.

A change in the schedule has Westminster playing South Carroll in the final regular season game. This is the 45th meeting between the two county foes.

Winters Mill

Ken Johnson is the dean of the current county football coaches as he starts his ninth year. He is the only head coach the Falcons have known in their young history.

The Falcons were 5-5 overall and 4-3 in the county last year. Winters Mill has 26 juniors on this year’s roster.

The Falcons have two returnees on the offensive line in guard: Chase Hawk and tackle Marcus Jenkins.

There is a competition for quarterback between junior Jordan Carmichael and sophomore Cole Myers.

On the receiving end of passes will be senior tight end Calvert Schaefer and junior Sebastian Cuenca. Senior fullback Andrew Schreiber will play both offense and defense. He will block for junior tailbacks Teddy Chase and Kyle Shimek.

On the defensive line Schaefer will be joined by Brandon Burnley and Nick Witt. Senior Casey Anderson returns at linebacker and will line-up with Chase Cullison, Jake Utz and Ryan Hightower.

Winters Mill returns both kickers from last year as Cuenca will handle the place kicking and Dylan Steinberg the punting.
