High School Sports: Golf Preview

The Falcons and Owls are chasing county foe North Carroll.

Westminster and Winters Mill, like everyone else in Carroll County, are chasing North Carroll on the links this year.

The Panthers won the Class 2A/1A title along with going undefeated in winning the county crown.

The high school golf season kicked off before school started this year.

Coach Nick DePace, starting his sixth year with the Owls, will have a young team with only three seniors.

The seniors are Eric Deitz, John Reid and Cody Torrence. Blake Brown is the lone junior along with three sophomores Zach David, Chris Griffith and Jimmy Hancock. Rounding out the squad are freshmen Ryan Carey, Jake Kucharski, Graysen Muscalli, Jordan McKelvin and Fuhler Pomeroy.

Westminster was 11-7 overall and 3-4 in the county last year.

 

Winters Mill

The Falcons are led by first year coach Mike Yeagle. The team was 8-9 overall and 2-5 in the county last year.

Winters Mill is junior heavy with Taylor Logue, Matt Gibbons, Nathan Dowling, Christian Rose and Arizona Oxendine. There are three seniors: Brandon Lesniak, Cliff Reeves and Jon Locke. Austin Cincotta is the lone freshmen.
