Westminster Schools Celebrate American Education Week

Nov. 13-19 is American Education Week. Here are a few things going on to celebrate this week in Westminster schools.

According to the National Education Association website, American Education Week began in response to the distressing number of World War I draftees who were illiterate and physically unfit.

The representatives of the NEA and American Legion began working together to generate public support for education and in 1921 the week was designated for communities to annually observe the accomplishments and needs of the public schools.

See the NEA’s website for five ways you can make a difference in your local schools this week.
