McDaniel College Remembers 9/11

McDaniel College will hold two events this week in honor of the tenth anniversary 9/11.

McDaniel College will host two events in honor of 9/11. The events are open to the public and are free to attend.

Tonight, Thursday, Sept. 8, a panel discussion titled Looking Back, Moving Forward--The 10th Anniversary of September 11 will be held in the McDaniel College Lounge at 7 p.m.

Dr. Pam Zappardino, McDaniel faculty member and co-director of the Ira and Mary Zepp Center for Nonvoiolence and Peace Education, will moderate the event.

Introductory remarks will be given by provost Dr. Thomas Falkner and the panelists include Dr. Rebecca Carpenter, professor of English, Walt Michael, executive director of Common Ground on the Hill and Dr. Christianna Leahy, professor and chairwoman of Political Science and International Relations.

On Sunday, Sept. 11, at 4 p.m. McDaniel will host September 11--A 10th Anniversary Commemoration, in Memorial Square in the center of campus.

Led by Dr. Mohamed Esa, Foreign Languages professor and Rev. Larry Brumfield of the Westminster Church of the Brethren, a number of individuals will be sharing remarks, readings and songs.  

Music will be provided by Walt Michael & Co.

McDaniel college students will be sharing poetry, songs and their thoughts and memories of September 11, 2001.
