New School Policy: Book Bags No Longer Permitted in Classrooms

Students will no longer be able to bring book bags and backpacks into school classrooms.

Starting this school year students will have to carry their books to class and use their lockers according to a new policy in place at  and .

"Bookbags will not be permitted in the classes this year," said Liberty High School Principal Thomas Clowes in the school newsletter. "We are doing this for several reasons. The most important reason is for student safety. Leaving bookbags in student’s lockers will leave more room in the classrooms for students and teachers to move about the classrooms."

Bookbags will be allowed to transport books to and from school but must be left in the lockers during the school day.

"Students will be given sufficient opportunities to visit their locker throughout the day so that they will not need to carry all of their books," said Oklahoma Road Middle School Principal Catherine Hood.

These locker visit times will be determined by each individual team, according to the policy and students will be allowed to carry gym bags or small plastic bags for their gym clothes.
