Cancer Fundraisers – Francis Scott Key High School

The Francis Scott Key High School Field Hockey and Soccer Teams are hosting “Stick It To Cancer” and “Kick It To Cancer” fundraisers through the month of October. The events will take place at their home games on Tuesday, Oct. 9, at 4 p.m. and Thursday, Oct. 18, at 5 p.m. All donations go to the National Foundation for Cancer Research.

Board Meeting

The Board of Education of Carroll County will hold its regular meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 10, at 5 p.m. in the Charles I. Ecker Boardroom at the Board of Education offices, located at 125 North Court Street in Westminster. The Board will hear options related to the Comprehensive Facilities Utilization Study. There will be time for citizen participation at this meeting. The public is encouraged to attend.

Board President Jennifer Seidel and Superintendent Stephen Guthrie will be hosting a town meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 16, at 7 p.m. at West Middle School, located at 60 Monroe Street in Westminster.

The purpose of the meeting is to create an open dialogue with parents and the community.  Members of the community are invited to attend and address their concerns or ask questions regarding education topics and issues. The meeting is intended to be an open forum; however, depending on the number of participants the time for each speaker may be limited.

CAPP Day – Liberty High School

Liberty High School will hold CAPP (Career, Assessments, Planning and Preparation) Day on Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 7:45 to 11 a.m. Ninth graders will participate in a motivational assembly, a completers presentation, and an advisory lesson on team building. Tenth and eleventh grade students will take PSAT testing. Eleventh grade students not taking the PSAT and twelfth graders will have several available options including community guest speakers, lessons on career development, a college decision making lesson, and a continuing education fair.

Open House – Career and Technology Center

The Carroll County Career and Technology Center will hold its annual open house on Thursday, Oct. 18, from 6 to 8 p.m. The event will feature student presentations, student competitions, and faculty displays.
