Board of Education Work Session

The Board of Education will hold an administrative meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 22 at 1 p.m. in the Charles I. Ecker Boardroom at the Board of Education offices, 125 North Court Street in Westminster.

There will be no time for citizen participation at this meeting. A work session on the FY14 Capital Improvement Plan will be held immediately following the Board meeting. The public is encouraged to attend.       

The agenda and back-up materials for the meeting will be available for review on BoardDocs, which may be accessed by visiting the school system's website at www.carrollk12.org and clicking on Board of Education Meeting Agenda and Documents on the home page.

New Hires

Jimmie Saylor, CCPS Director of Human Resources said in a recent Board of Education meeting that as of early August they had hired 116 teachers for this coming school year. She said the goal was to have 120 new hires by the time school starts. Of the 116 already hired, 34 are elementary classroom teachers and 23 are special education tachers. Math and science were subjects with the most hires, 11 science and 10 math teachers were brought on, Saylor said.

Heading Back to School

CCPS teachers returned to school today (Aug. 20). Students will return to school on Monday, Aug. 27. To see a list of Back to School/Open House dates and times for each school, click here.

• First day of school for students: Aug. 27
• Schools/Offices Closed for Labor Day: Sept. 3
• Schools/Offices Closed for Rosh Hashanah: Sept. 17
• Schools/Offices Closed for Yom Kippur: Sept. 26
