Technology Within Reach for People Without Computers, Internet

The Carroll Technology Council wants to "level the playing field" for children and adults who do not have access to a computer.

For a child who doesn't have access to a home computer or technology resources, even simple school assignments can be a challenge. The Carroll Technology Council said it wants to "level the playing field" by making computers accessible to kids and adults in Carroll County.

The Carroll Technology Council's CompuKids program helps children get computers so that they can be better equipped for school. The Council also has a program for adults, called TechWorks, so that people without a job can get a computer in order to aid in the job hunt process.

"It’s a wonderful program, and we have a lot of computers in stock just waiting to be given away," said Isabel DeFeo of the Carroll Technology Council. "I believe we have given away over 600 computers so far to people and organizations in Carroll County.  In addition, Quantum Internet donates a year worth of dial up for each computer given out."
