Three Carroll County Schools Recognized for Character Education

Winters Mill High School received an honorable mention for its character education classes from the Maryland Center for Character Education at Stevenson University.

is one of three Carroll County Schools recognized at the state level for their character education programs.

The award winning school was one of the schools selected as "School of the Year" from the Maryland Center for Education at Stevenson University, according to a Carroll County Public School System press release. 

Ebb Valley Elementary School was also selected as a recipient and Winters Mill High School received an Honorable Mention as a Maryland State School of Character.

According to the release the character education program at Eldersburg Elementary School was selected because, "it promotes a strong sense of community that is recognized by the entire student body. The core values of working cooperatively, maintaining safety, respecting one another, and being responsible and ready at all times are included in the school’s vision and mission."

"Administration and staff members recognize students and each other for displaying the 3 R’s - Respect, Responsibility and Readiness. Both high and low tech interactive lessons have been developed and a bank of lesson plans is available to all staff members. Eldersburg is committed to Education That Is Multicultural and how they integrate their best practices seamlessly into daily activities."

The schools will be recognized at an awards luncheon on Thursday, October 6, at Stevenson University.
