Update: Westminster Girls Lacrosse to Take on Severna Park in State Championship

The game was rained out Wednesday and rescheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at UMBC.

The Westminser High girls lacrosse team, boasting a 13-4 record, will see Severna Park in a rematch tonight as they battle for the state champion title.

The Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association Class 3A/4A state championship begins at 6:30 p.m. tonight (Thursday) at UMBC.  

Westminster coach Jackie Stevens said that this will be her third time going to the state championship game in her four years as coach at Westminster. She has faced Severna Park in the state championships the past two years and lost.

But she said the Owls are ready tonight.

"We've just been practicing a lot of game situations-type things," Stevens said. "We already have the skills and the team unity."

Severna Park coach Carin Peterson said that facing off against Westminster won't be a walk in the park.

"It's going to be a really nice matchup," said Peterson who has been coaching girls lacrosse at the school for more than 20 years.
