Take a first look at a certified Montessori program along with your toddler, aged 18 to 36 months old.  This once a week, Saturday, session gives 6 weeks of socialization, work with classic Montessori materials, and expertise of trained Montessori guides (teachers).  One parent and the child may attend each of the 6 sessions--either parent may attend and the same parent need not attend each; Mom one week and Dad the next is fine, for example.

The young child will be encouraged to explore at will, freely choosing materials that foster self development in an environment designed to make learning fun while occurring naturally.  This is a peaceful first introduction for the young child with opportunities to practice social interactions with peers and other adults.  The parent is present to nurture and support the child's growing need for independence.  Parents will learn the basic principles of the Montessori method and take home ideas and suggestions for creating a supportive home for children.
