Twelve giddy girls, five proud coaches and a swarm of family members will be trekking to Orlando on July 9 with two goals: play some good basketball and have a lot of fun.
After going 19-4 this season and winning the state championship title a few weeks ago, the 4th grade Attitude team members say they are prepared to be very competitive in Orlando.
In preparation for the trip, the team continues to practice and play games. Next weekend they will travel to Philadelphia to play in a tournament where Coach Joe McAleer says the girls will have the opportunity to play some New York teams. This, he said, will help prepare them for some of the different type of play they will see in Orlando.
Although being competitive and winning is important to the girls and the coaches, McAleer said that it is certainly not the most important part of the team or the game. According to McAleer, the key is for the girls to have fun and enjoy eachother.
The Youth Basketball of America (YBOA) national competition will begin on July 10 and the Attitude will play their first game on July 11. Tune in to Patch to see how the girls are doing in Orlando, we will post scores and photos.
