Youngsters Run, Bike and Swim in 6th Annual Nottingham Kids Triathlon

Kids are challenged, but have fun, in local multisport events.

Hundreds of kids from around the region finished summer by breaking a sweat in the 6th Annual Nottingham Kids Triathlon in Mt. Airy this weekend. 

The Mini Cow Tri Club is a Carroll County-based organization that encourages healthy lifestyle choices through multisport with an emphasis on fun. The club hosts several events throughout the year, including the Nottingham Kids Triathlon which took place Saturday, Aug. 24 in Mt. Airy. 

In this event, kids from ages seven to 15 had to swim, bike and run their way to the finish line. Here are the distances for each age group:

  • 7-8 year olds: 50 meter swim, 2 mile bike, .5 mile run
  • 9-10 year olds: 100 meter swim, 2 mile bike, .5 mile run
  • 11-12 year olds: 100 meter swim, 4 mile bike, 1 mile run
  • 13-15 year olds: 150 meter swim, 4 mile bike, 1 mile run

Think your kids might be interested in trying a multisport event? The BOOathlon at Knill's Farm Market in Mt. Airy is a perfect start.

Open to children ages 6 to 15, the Kids Adventure BOOathlon at Knill's Farm Market will challenge children physically and mentally, combining a .75 mile run, 2 mile bike and .5 mile run with a few surprise adventures in between, according to the event website. This event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 2 p.m. Get more information here
