Art Camps for Kids in Westminster and Beyond

Summer camps offer fun, entertainment, education and Caroll County has more than a few choices for kids of all ages.  Patch has rounded up a variety of local art camps in Carroll County this summer.

Art Camps

Carroll County Arts Council Summer Arts Camp (Westminster)

Only Arts Council members can sign up for summer camps through March 31. Starting April 1 registration will open to the general public. Registration forms are available at the Carroll County Arts website.  

• Creative Kids Camp: Ages 5-8 will get a chance to enjoy all types of arts including drawing, painting, singing, crafts, dancing, theatre and more. Session B Camp: July 8-12, 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Session C Camp: July 15-19: 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. / Member Price: $100, Non-Member Price: $115.
• Art Adventures: Ages 9-12 will learn about the areas most talented artists.  They will tour local galleries and visit public works of art.  Session A Camp: June 24-28, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. / Member Price: $145, Non-Member Price: $160
• Fun Company Theatre Camp: Ages 9-12 are invited to learn about all aspects of theatre including props, set design, costumes, technical equipment and more.  Kids will play improve games and learn how to help actors prepare for ‘the big show’ that will take place Friday at 3 p.m. on the Art Center’s stage. Session E Camp: July 22 – Aug. 2, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. / Member Price: $265, Non-Member Price: $285.
• Teen Theatre Camp: Ages 13-18 are invited to watch a live production, play theatre gamees, learn how to use microphones, spotlights and more.  Each child will be featured in a performance on Friday, July 19 at 4 p.m. Each camper gets a head shot taken which they get to keep on disc. Session D: July 8-19, 1 -5 p.m. / Member Price: $150, Non-Member Price: $175.

Tree of Life Theatre Troupe, Inc. (Sykesville)

9th Annual Camp Program teaches kids age 6-18 all about the stage, acting and theatre production.  Together the kids will work to put on their very own play: Treasure Island; The Rock Musical.  

• Where: Friendship Baptist Church, 1391 Sykesville Road, Sykesville
• When:  July 22 – Aug 3.
• Cost:  $350 ($50 deducted for additional family members who are registered.)

Jams Music Center (Eldersburg)

Kids age 8-12 and 13-16 are grouped together to learn from professional musicians, jam in a band and learn to write songs.  Kids participate in band rehearsals and will perform in an in-store stage performance with professional sound and lighting.  

• Where: 6400 Ridge Road, Eldersburg
• When: June 25-29 / July 9-13 / July 16-20/ July 30- Aug. 3 / Aug. 6-10 /Aug. 13-17 / Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
• Cost: $350 per week, per child, including supplies.

Merritt Athletic Clubs - Masterpiece Art Camp (Eldersburg)

Merritt Athletic Clubs offers a variety of different camps for kids of all ages including: Musical Theater Camp for ages 6-10, each week focuses on a different musical.

• Where:  Merritt Athletic Club, 1388 Progress Way, Eldersburg
• When:  July 8-12, July 29-Aug. 2, Aug. 5-9, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.  
• Cost:  $200-$350

Merritt Athletic Clubs will also host a Masterpiece Art Studio Program for ages 5-8 and ages 9-13. Children will learn different artistic techniques and skills.

• When:  June 24-28, July 8-12, July 22-26, July 29-Aug. 2, Aug.5-9. 9 a.m.-4 p.m.

GTP Summer Art & Craft Camp  (Eldersburg)

13th Annual Glazed to Perfection Summer camp is designed for kids ages 8-15.  Kids have access to supplies and materials and are allowed to create art of all kinds.

• Where:  Glazed to Perfection, 2021 Liberty Road, Eldersburg
• When:  8 Week long sessions available June 17 – August 16, 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
• Cost:  $269 per child, per session.  $15 deducted for each additional session.

Circus Camp at Carroll Community College

Kids will learn how to juggle, spin plates, walk the tight wire, stilt walking, all kinds of clowning and much more. At the end of the week, kids will perform their new circus acts for relatives and friends. The performance coaches are professional clowns and comedy performers. For ages 9-15
