Kid Activity Alert: Join the Library Summer Reading Program

Kids can play games, earn prizes and have fun participating in the Carroll County Library's summer reading program.

If your kids are already getting antsy after just a week of summer break, consider getting them involved in the library summer reading program.

The Carroll County Library system wants to help kids read and have fun this summer. They have built a program, titled "Dream Big...Read!" that includes games and prizes for kids as well as benchmarks to help them achieve reading goals.

The summer reading program runs through Aug. 11. Record the minutes spent reading or completing learning activities in a personal reading log or online.

Kids who achieve a total of 60 minutes worth of reading and learning activities (found online) earn a ticket for a prize drawing. When kids complete 12 hours of reading, they earn a finishing prize, coupons, and a chance to win a Toys “R” Us gift card.

There is a program, with a reading list and prizes, for kids, teens and adults. Yes, adults!
