If you want to get involved in local government, here is one way to do it. The County has announced that several seats on boards and commissions are open or will be opening up soon.

Over the next few months the following county boards and commissions will have openings, according to a news release:

  • Electrical Licensing Board

  • Board of License Commissioners (Liquor Board)
  • Planning & Zoning Commission
  • Plumbing Advisory Board
  • Recreation & Parks
  • Utilities Advisory Board
Generally, any Carroll County resident can apply to serve on these boards, but due to the nature of some boards, there may be specific appointment criteria.

Other boards have no such specific requirements and only need people who are interested in the subject matter of the board and serving their community.

Anyone interested in serving on one of these boards should complete an application then send the completed application, along with a current resume, to:

The Board of County Commissioners
Attn: Denise Hoover
225 North Center Street
Westminster, MD 21157

Or email it to dhoover@ccg.carr.org.

According to the news release, the Commissioners appreciate all the hours of hard work and dedication that the board members provide to the county each year. Most of the board members serve without any compensation while providing crucial services to the citizens of Carroll County.

Each year the Commissioners have the opportunity to appoint new people to these boards and look forward to working with them as they serve the citizens of Carroll County, according to the release.
