Recreation and Parks Crab Feast
When: Saturday, Sept. 28, 6 to 10 p.m.
Where: Freedom Optimist Community Hall in Sykesville
What: The menu includes steamed crabs & shrimp, pit beef, fried chicken, and more! Come enjoy a great evening with friends, live music with DJ Mike Rogers and have the opportunity to win prizes throughout the evening. All proceeds benefit the Carroll County Park Legacy Fund
Cost: $40

Piney Run Apple Festival
When: Saturday, September 28, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. 
Where: Piney Run Park
What: The festival features children’s crafts, delicious apple dumplings, pies, and fritters, old time cooking demonstration, face painting, beautiful hand made crafts, tractor rides, scarecrow making, and more! Vendors will be selling a variety of handmade crafts, food items, and more.
Cost: Park Entrance fees apply

Westminster Fallfest
When: Saturday, Sept. 28, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and  Sunday, Sept. 29, Noon to 6 p.m.
Where: Westminster City Park
What: This annual event offers amusement rides, fair food, craft vendors, demonstrations from community groups and more. Additionally, three local nonprofits will benefit from the event proceeds. 
Cost: No cost to enter, purchase tickets for rides

Rotary Oktoberfest of Carroll County
When: Sept. 28, noon till 10 pm and Sept. 29 noon till 6 p.m.
Where:The Danele Shipley Memorial Arena at the Carroll County Agriculture Center 
What: The four Rotary Clubs of Carroll County–Sykesville South Carroll, Mount Airy, Bonds Meadow, and Westminster host the Second Annual Rotary Oktoberfest of Carroll County fundraising event. This will be a fun-filled day with many family activities, as well as authentic style German foods, beers, and music. Festivities will include a “Roll Out the Barrel” Ceremony to be performed by local dignitaries, a Lederhosen and Dirndl Contest, Polka Dance contest, and a Chicken Dance Contest, with live entertainment all day. Children’s activities will include face painting, pumpkin painting, scarecrow making, magic shows, balloon sculptors, and many games. 
Cost: $5, children under 10 free, those wearing authentic German attire also get in for free

8th Maryland Microbrewery Festival 2013
When: Saturday, Sept. 28, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Union Mills Homestead, 3311 Littlestown Pike - Westminster, Md
What: This fun-packed festival will celebrate and promote the best of Maryland’s handcrafted and distinctive microbrews. Proceeds of the event go to the benefit of the Union Mills Homestead Foundation's ongoing interpretation and preservation of the historic Union Mills site. 
Cost:Tickets in advance: Adult/beer sampling $18, Non-beer sampling $5, Under 12 years free; Tickets at the Door: Adult/beer sampling $20, Non-beer sampling $5, Under 12 years free

Rocky Horror Picture Show
When: Saturday, Sept. 28 at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Where: Carroll Arts Center, 91 West Main Street
What: Let’s do the time warp again! Costumes are welcome at this special screening of the cult classic that stars a young Barry Bostwick, Susan Sarandon, and Tim Curry. Fans with the best costumes will be rewarded with special prizes. A limited number of special pre-packaged "audience interaction kits" will be on sale for $5. The kits contain all the props you need to "properly" interact with the movie, AND a card explaining when to use them!
