Baltimore-DC Weekend Hookup: MARC Train Service Starts Saturday

Finally, a cheap and easy way to get from one city to the other on the weekend.

A Baltimore-DC connection via train will finally become a reality this weekend.

MARC starts its weekend service between DC's Union Station and Baltimore's Penn Station, operating nine round trips on Saturdays and six round trips on Sundays. One-way fares are $7.

The service is among several newly funded state transportation projects included in a funding bill passed by the Maryland General Assembly last spring, according to The Washington Post.

The hour-long ride will make stops at West Baltimore, Halethorpe, BWI Airport, Odenton, Bowie and New Carrollton, according to the Washington Business Journal. Some trains originate at Martin State Airport in Middle River.

The first Saturday departure from Penn Station is 7:35 a.m., with the last departure from D.C. at 10:35 p.m. Sunday's trains leave Baltimore between 9:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.
