Fishing, Corn Hole, Art Exhibits and Sykesville Fallfest in Carroll County This Weekend

There's plenty of fun to be had in Carroll County this weekend.

Here are a few fun fall events happening in Carroll County this weekend. Be sure to list your events on Patch so we can promote them in our roundups. 

Fall Fishing Tournament at Piney Run Park

What:
The last fishing tournament of our “open season”. This is a big tournaments with lots of cash prizes to be won in various categories.

Corn Hole Competition

What
: Compete in a sanctioned cornhole competition for cash prizes. There will be food and a beer tent.
When: Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: The Railyard, 3 North Main Street, Mount Airy
Cost: Team Entrance Fee


Sykesville Fall Festival (Rain Date Oct. 19)

What: A family filled day full of Fall activities for kids, entertainment, live music, food, art and so much more.
When: Oct. 12 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Rain Date Oct. 19)

MaizeFest at River Valley Ranch

What
: MaizeFest features a giant 6 acre corn maze. Make your way through the maze searching for the 9 hidden map pieces and nine hidden clue posts which you’ll have to decipher to solve this year’s mystery. After that, it’s a race to the finish. Admission includes: Corn Maze, Hay Ride, Playground with Giant Tree House, Corn Kernel playpens, Cider Press demonstration, & Game Area.
When: Oct. 12 from noon to 9 p.m. (event takes place every Saturday and Sunday through October.

Handsome Art Exhibit

What
: Impressive, admirable, stately and well-proportioned are synonymous with handsome. All of these words are perfect descriptors of the quality of art that this diverse and talented group of eleven gentleman artists will be exhibiting in the Tevis Gallery. This show is the partner to our previous spring exhibit “Beautiful” that showcased the work of women artists.

Look/out: A Mixed Media Exhibit by Naomi Falk


What: “Look/out” highlights work by Naomi Falk, visiting assistant professor at The College of William & Mary. Falk frequently uses clay and found materials, and is drawn to their histories. 
When: Gallery open Monday, Tuesday Wednesday and Friday Noon to 4 p.m.; Thursday Noon to 8 p.m.; Saturday Noon to 5 p.m.

Cookbook Release Party at Guilianova's 

What: Enjoy an evening with Billy Schroeder and Kathy Francis, local authors of the cookbook "Eat Thin:  a collection of recipes for a thinner you."  The evening will kick off with a cooking demonstration of selected recipes from the cookbook.  Afterward, enjoy drinks, appetizers, and conversation while listening to the music of noted jazz musician Eric Byrd.  
When: Oct. 12 at 6 p.m.
Where: Giulianova Groceria & Deli, 11 East Main St., Westminster
Cost: For reservations call 410-876-7425.  Single admission is $35. and $55. for couple's.  Admission includes a copy of the cookbook.

: Start making plans with your spouse, friends, partner, or family. Go shopping, grab some dinner, see a movie or just go relax! Kids will play games, watch movies, do crafts, play sports, eat pizza and have a ball with an exceptionally trained staff of caregivers and teachers.
PRE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Register online!
When: Saturday, Oct. 12  5-8:30 p.m.
Cost: $16 for the first child, $6 for each additional child.
