Westminster knocked out the Gators 3-0 in Perry Hall Wednesday afternoon.
Don’t let their in-season record fool you. The 7-12 Westminster Owls are not to be trifled with. “We really started to come into our own in the post season,” head coach Ashley Moyer said. “One thing that I've stressed to the girls is that our season record means nothing in the post season. The teams that we face know nothing about us.” The Lady Owls ousted Perry Hall 3-0 in the regional semifinals of the class 4A softball playoffs Wednesday. View the full bracket here. “We played a hard regular season schedule and we came out of it looking to show that we are better than our record,” Moyer said. A standout performance from freshman pitcher Emily Maseth made the difference against a sturdy Perry Hall that ended the regular season with a 15-…

West Middle and East Middle encourage community support as they take each other on in a Box Tops collection competition during the month of May.
Starting May 1, East Middle School and West Middle School began a month-long face off to collect the most box tops for their school and parent teacher organization (PTO). The school with the most box tops per student wins, and the principal of the losing school will have to wear spirit wear from the winning school and proclaim that the winning school "rocks." Box tops can be found on certain General Mills products. The company will pay 10 cents toward education-related projects for each box top collected. Mary Bendel-Simso, West Middle School’s box tops coordinator, is the originator of Box Tops competitions in West Middle and is excited to promote this competition between the two middle schools. “What inspires middle-schoolers more than …

Or milkshakes, or smoothies, or frappes ... McDonald's celebrates Teacher Appreciation Week.
Shiny red apples and adorably misspelled hand-drawn cards will always express our appreciation of teachers. But sometimes, don’t you think, they’d like a milkshake too? Next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. From Monday, May 6 – May 10, McDonald’s is recognizing teachers in its own way – with free drinks. Just stop inside a restaurant, or roll through the drive-thru, mention you are a local educator, show your school ID and you’ll get a small drink – coffee, smoothie, shake, frappe – you name it, for free.
