Play Time: Ravens Promote Healthy Living with Carroll County Kids (Video)

A handful of Ravens players and cheerleaders spent Tuesday morning with kids from Sandymount Elementary.

The gym, packed with hundreds of elementary school students and faculty, erupted with screams and applause Tuesday morning when several Baltimore Ravens unexpectedly appeared on stage. Ravens Haloti Ngata, Ray Rice, Ricky Williams, Sam Koch and Tandon Doss, participating in the NFL Play60 program, spent time answering questions and talking to students about nutrition and exercise. The NFL Play 60 program, which is designed to promote healthy and active lifestyles among today’s youth, will be held in 26 Carroll County elementary schools from Oct. 3-16, according to a news release from Carroll County Public Schools. Ravens safety Ed Reed held his second annual football camp this week at Franklin High School. Reed uses the camp as an opportunity to teach lessons for on and off the football field.

The cost of Baltimore Ravens safety Ed Reed’s two-day football camp is a reasonable $90 per player. However, the approximately 150 middle and high school athletes who attended left not only with new football knowledge but, more importantly, life lessons that you simply cannot put a price on.
