No one was injured, fire officials said.
A small fire was sparked Tuesday morning at a log cabin at the Carroll County Farm Museum in Westminster, fire officials said. No one was injured, and no artifacts were harmed, but repairs will be needed for the museum’s chimney and roof, according to the Carroll County Times. Read the full story here. Three individuals were flown to Shock Trauma after the accident on Rt. 97.
A two-vehicle collision Saturday afternoon sent two people to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center and one to Carroll Hospital Center. Terry Gail Clark, 58, of Pikesville was pronounced dead at Carroll Hospital Center. According to the Westminster Fire Department website, an engine and ambulance were dispatched to a crash at Rt. 97 and Hook Road for a head on collision involving a Mustang and a Cavalier. Two rescue helicopters were called in while fire crews worked to remove the driver of the Mustang as well as the driver and a passenger from the Cavalier. The man remains in serious but stable condition.
A 73-year-old Westminster man was injured Tuesday when the lawn mower he was riding hit a stump, overturned and pinned the man under the machine, sheriff's officials said. According to sheriff's deputies, Gilbert Barnes was transported to the University of Maryland Adams Crowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore where he was listed in serious but stable condition. Barnes reportedly was mowing on a hillside in the 1300 block of Tannery Hill Road just before 11 a.m. when the mower overturned, pinning his left leg underneath. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact Deputy Chris Youman of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at 410-386-2900.

Pastor Dean Waddell said the Westminster Rescue Mission will rebuild bigger and better.
Pastor Dean Waddell, director of the Westminster Rescue Mission, said that the community has been incredibly supportive since the Rescue Mission's thrift barn burned to the ground late Friday. Just before 10 p.m. Friday, the Westminster Fire Company was dispatched to 643 Lucabaugh Mill Road where the Rescue Mission's thrift barn was engulfed in flames. The fire was contained with the assistance of approximately 100 firefighters on 42 pieces of apparatus. Assistance was received from 12 of the 14 fire departments in Carroll County along with stations from Baltimore County and York County, PA.The fire was under control at 11:45 p.m. Waddell said what was most important was that no one was injured in the fire. Deputy State Fire Marshals are investigating the cause of a fire that claimed the life of Stanley J. Kundin, 80, early Tuesday morning. Initial estimates value the damages at close to $1.5 million. Kundin was found by firefighters in the basement of the single story, wood frame ranch style home at 3205 Old Washington Road in Westminster according to a news release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal. At approximately 1:05 a.m. family members heard a smoke alarm and saw smoke coming from the area of the bedroom of the victim and called 911.
