(Update) NWS Issues Winter Storm Warning for Carroll County

Travel will be hazardous Saturday, according to the National Weather Service.

Keep those shovels handy, parts of Maryland could see more snow this weekend.

The NWS has canceled Carroll County's Winter Storm Watch and issued a Winter Storm Warning from 5 a.m. Saturday to 1 a.m. Sunday. According to NWS, an approaching storm will bring snow, sleet and rain. 

Carroll County could see up to four to eight inches of snow accumulation, with the highest accumulations near the Mason-Dixon line, according to NWS.

Snow will begin early Saturday morning and continue through the day. Snow will mix with and then change to sleet and freezing rain Saturday evening. 

A Winter Storm Warning means significant amounts of snow, sleet and ice are expected. Strong winds are also possible. These weather conditions will make travel hazardous. 

Roads will become snow covered and slippery Saturday, according to NWS and freezing rain will cause icy conditions Saturday night. 

Carroll County Public Schools has already canceled school functions for Saturday
