Westminster Woman All Laughs After $1 Million Powerball Win

A Westminster woman bought her winning $1 million Powerball ticket at the High's convenience store at 27 Railroad Ave. in Westminster.

This $1 million Powerball winner from Westminster is truly laughing out loud all the way to the bank (see video).

This happy mom hit it big on the July 3 drawing but didn’t even know she was Maryland’s newest millionaire until a few days ago, according to Maryland Lottery. The July 4 holiday came, life got busy and she simply forgot to check her numbers.

Just back from a long weekend family visit, the woman said she suddenly remembered having bought a few Powerball tickets at the High’s store in Westminster before leaving town.

“I was paying bills when I remembered the tickets,” the woman told Maryland Lottery officials. She checked the results on the Lottery’s website and saw that she had matched five of the six winning numbers, winning $1 million.

“I couldn’t believe it, it was so exciting, but I didn’t know the prize for matching five of six at first,” the married mother of two said in a statement.

Employed in the medical field, the woman told Maryland Lottery officials that she enjoys her job and said the Powerball win will not lead to significant changes in her family’s life.

“I won’t be moving into a mansion,” she said.

According to a Maryland Lottery statement, she and her husband will set up a college fund for the kids, buy a new vehicle and take a family trip to Disney World.

“Now we won’t have to worry about the ‘extras’ that make a vacation memorable,” she said. “We’ll be able to do all of them.”
